Providence Health & Services Registrar in Newberg, Oregon
Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Registrar (0.6 FTE, Variable Shifts) to Newberg Medical Center in Newberg, OR.
We are seeking a Registrar to secure appropriate patient record and account reimbursement by obtaining complex demographic, insurance, and medical information.
Access employees will perform all duties in a manner which promotes a team concept, respects diversity, and reflects the Sisters of Providence mission and philosophy.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Interview patients in a courteous, efficient, and accurate manner to ensure correct and complete information is obtained and documented.
Assess the patient’s ability to complete admission process prior to going to their hospital room or receiving services. Alerts clinical staff if the patient needs immediate attention.
Verify patient’s demographic information and identifies them in the Providence Health System Master Patient Index or creates a new record in the MPI as appropriate.
Obtain required information from payor systems to ensure maximum reimbursement of all accounts. Identifies patients with non-participating plans and resolves issues with appropriate staff and physicians.
Verify and prepare all necessary forms, documents, plates, labels, and wristbands to ensure proper patient identification based on patient type.
Maintain current knowledge and competency of all government and third party payors which are complex and ever-changing.
Secure patients’ valuables in accordance with PHS procedures, providing appropriate validation documentation, and stores valuables in safe as needed. Returns valuables to patients at discharge and completes valuables log per policy.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School degree or equivalent
Minimum one year experience in customer service or healthcare registration.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Minimum of two years college education.
National Certification of CHAA.
Satisfactory completion of college level Medical Terminology or Medical Assistant course.
Previous registrar and third party payor experience.
Previous healthcare experience, in either a provider or payor site.
