Providence Health & Services Maintenance Engineer *Per-Diem* in Newberg, Oregon


Providence is looking for a Maintenance Engineer - Facility Services (0.0 FTE, Night Shift) to Providence Newberg Medical Center in Newberg, OR. This position will work open shifts to cover time off/leaves of other caregivers. Must be available for training/orientation to the role.

Providence seeking a Maintenance Engineer that maintains and repairs hospital equipment, electrical and controls systems, heating and air conditioning systems, and other building repairs in accordance with TJC standards and hospital policy; and performs all duties in a manner which promotes team concept and reflects the Sisters of Providence mission and philosophy.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate positive interactions with the public and positive interpersonal relations with fellow employees, supervisors, and other department employees, so that productivity and positive employee relations are maximized

  • Support and contribute to effective safety and risk management efforts by adhering to established policies and procedures, maintaining a safe environment, promoting accident prevention, and identifying and reporting potential liabilities

  • Operate power plant boilers, pumps, diesel plant, chillers, and all related equipment. Checks boiler room equipment and controls, boilers, pumps, chillers, cooling towers, emergency generators, air compressors, and other equipment as described in the department rounds

  • Perform and act as a security officer as situations warrant.

  • Perform maintenance responds to requests for air adjustments, thermostats, and related control equipment to maintain a controlled environment

  • Perform daily tasks required to ensure that physical plant equipment is operating safely and at peak performance

  • Perform required testing on all physical plant equipment and systems

  • Take required readings of equipment as required

  • Assists in developing the plants predictive and preventative maintenance programs

  • Perform predictive and preventative maintenance as required

  • Monitor all gas systems and takes corrective actions to ensure safe and adequate gas flows are maintained

  • Assist in performing all code and TJC required equipment and systems testing and inspection


Required qualification in this position includes:

  • Education to meet certification, license -OR- registration requirement

  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record

  • Must have or be able to obtain within six (6) months of hire State of Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Professional Certification

  • Experience using personal computer with Microsoft applications

Preferred qualification in this position include:

  • Experience working in a health care setting
