Providence Health & Services Laboratory Assistant 1 in Newberg, Oregon

Description:

Providence is calling a Laboratory Assistant (0.0 FTE, Rotating/Variable) to Providence Newberg Medical Center in Newberg, OR.

In this position, you will:

  • Be responsible for the accurate and timely receiving, processing, and labeling of laboratory specimens, and the appropriate handling and/or disbursement of laboratory data and patient results.

  • Support personnel work with acute-care and outpatient caregivers, vendors, consultants, and other Laboratory Services staff in performing their duty.

  • Be responsible for registering outpatient laboratory encounters obtaining complex demographic, insurance, and medical information.

  • Maintain up to date knowledge and competency on required registration functions.

  • Utilize multiple computer applications in order to complete patient encounters.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Highschool Diploma or equivalent

  • American Heart Association - Basic Life Support (AHA-BLS) within 30 days of hire.

  • 1 year Healthcare or related field experience -OR- a combination of applicable experience and education

  • Demonstrated outstanding Service Excellence experience

  • Clerical or client services experience

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Associate's Degree -OR- 2 years in college

  • Graduation from a Clinical Laboratory Assistant program or Phlebotomy program.

  • Certification from an approved government agency or nationally recognized professional organization (ASCP, NCA, etc.)

  • Certification in Phlebotomy, medical assisting, research, or clinical laboratory

  • Industry related experience in a high volume, acute care setting

  • 2 years of phlebotomy, medical assisting, research, clinical laboratory experience

  • Job experience in specimen collection, specimen preparation and equipment operation, pneumatic tubes systems and other related laboratory equipment
