Providence Health & Services Food Service Assistant in Newberg, Oregon

Providence is calling a Food Service Assistant to Providence Newberg Medical Center in Newberg, Oregon. This is a full-time, variable shift position. Shifts are 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. and 11:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. Schedule will include every other weekend and rotating holidays.

We are seeking for a Food Service Assistant who will provide courteous, friendly food service to employees, visitors and physicians by setting up, stocking, replenishing and cleaning service areas. Operates cash register, buses tables, preps food, and provides espresso coffee service. Complies with department standards.A positive and consistent service-oriented attitude is necessary to assure customers are served promptly and in a friendly, caring manner.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Salad bar preparation/maintenance to include filling crocks and slicing fruits/vegetables as necessary.

  • Organize service area, stocks, cleans and replenishes food display areas, ensuring proper food storage temperatures and rotation. Clean and maintain an attractive dining room environment.

  • Cashier at meal times.

  • Operate espresso bar.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Health Department Food Handlers Certificate or ServSafe Certification at the time of hire.

  • Cashiering experience.

  • Food handling experience.

  • Experience working successfully in a team environment to accomplish common goals.

  • Ability to maintain a pleasant demeanor and use good interpersonal skills to communicate with customers and fellow team members.

  • Ability to use a computerized register system with touch screen functionality and accurately manage cash and credit transactions in a busy and noisy environment.

  • Ability to accurately count and balance cash drawer at end of shift.

  • Ability to display and merchandise foods in a safe, attractive and appealing fashion.

  • Ability to work closely and positively with others in a demanding and task oriented environment.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • 1-2 years experience operating espresso equipment.
